Told you I was gonna post more about mascara. So Allure had an article rather a couple of articles on mascara (and hair!) ...alas the endless search continues on...so i took a pic and will transcribe it for you so you can all be amused and discuss and say what they're syaing is LIES or make sense and what not. Also included is a mini review over how the Wet N Wild Mega wink mascara did, claims to curl lashes...but you shall see....
I personally like reading Allure magazine, all these new beauty products and not enough body parts to try them all on. Its like having that stila holiday lipglaze set, comes with 6 lipglazes and only one mouth to apply it on. oh the inhumanity of it all! :)

so allure was reviewing these 4 mascaras one which chel did review as well on her own blog
[allure2]
Ok better image of the wands...so orangy hee hee
1. the big orange wand is the Cover Girl Lashblast (which i am having a horrid time trying to find, NONE of the drug stores near me carry it! How can I try it if they don't sell it! BAD marketing, don't they want my money?)
Promise: Thickness wihtout clumping (haven't we heard that before?)
How it works: A chubby barrel is covered in short plastic bristles that grab and coat lashes with a waxy, thickening formula. (hmmm waxy)
What an expert says: the wider barrel means that more forumula will be deposited along every lash with each stroke, so they will appear thicker with fewer coats, the pointed bristles also reduce clumping
what we say: (allure that is) we were intimidated by the big brush but were suprised when it went on smoothly, without clumps, leaving dense pigment at the lash line and feather tips. (sounds good...ladies what do you have to say about the big pumpkin mascara?)
2. M.A.C. Plush Lash (I know Stephie, you were not amused by this at all...was anyone else?)
Promise: Plumpness and defination
How it works: Long bristles run down the center, with shorter, tightly packed ones on either side. The shorter, tighter bristles - used first- coat the lashes, on the second swipe, turn the brush so the longer bristles seperate the lashes.
What an expert says: While the concept is clever and, when used correctly does work, having to anglethe brush in two specific directions seems too difficult. (makes sense! reminds me of the clinque mascara)
What we say: We tried rolling it while applying and the effect was the same-volume without any goop buildup
3. L'oreal paris telescopic lengthening & lash by lash seperating mascara (could this name BE any longer?)
promise: length and defination
how it works: the wand is square with four flat planes that deposit a precise amount of color with each coat and four equally spaced combs that groom the lashes.
Expert says ---> By creating a wand that has flat areas-rather than a round barrel- you get more mascara on the lashes with fewer coats, and the four rows of teeth ensure that each lash is coated smoothly. However, using the brush make take a little practice because you can't apply too much pressure or you may smudge it. (didn't he say something similiar to the larger barrel on the CG mascara? Is he contridicting himself?)
allure says ---> it glided on smoothly and kept our lashes long and curled all day (ok that was just a useless comment on their part)
4. Maybelline New York Define-a-lash
Promise: Length and sleekness (what does that mean? sleekness? are lashes a car now?)
how it works: the flexible wand is covered with shorter rubber bristles that deposit lightweight polymers right at the root, coating each lash evenly, with triangle shaped bristles to remove excess forumla and prevent caking! (wow tell me more! What else can it do?!)
Expert says : This brush makes lashes look even longer and fuller because the angled wipers-on a flexible wand-swipe away extra mascara while pushing it up to hte very tipe of the lash to extend it.
allure says: the brush coated all of our lashes, even the tiny ones, without clumping or flaking. the waitress at dinner even asked if we were wearing fake eyelashes (ok has anyone tried this? this sounds way too good to be true! )
5. Rimmel London lash Maxxx 3x Multiplying effect mascara (do we need that many XXXX?)
Promise: Smooth Volume (just like sleekness right?)
How it works: the flat wand has zigzagging plastic spokes along a stiff spine that coat lashes with a hairstyling polymer. (omg hairstlying polymer...like hairspray? or product?)
Expert says: the key to adding volume is to apply the mascara as close to the root as possible, and then swipe evenly up the lash to create the illusion of length. The comb does both very well.
allure says: it took a few swipes to poperly coat on the mascara, but our ordinary wimpy lashes did look full and defined. (lies! Rimmel is in trouble for having kate moss wear falsies! But if someone has tried it let us know plz. I just don't trust rimmel these days)
The other articles were mascara myths, most of which we know already. There was a box about curl power in mascara. the ones allure listed were...
Clarins Wonder length mascara ---> using plant polymers...has anyone tried this?
Lancome courbe virtuouse ---> has a irregular spaced spiral bristles
Maybelline New York XXL Curl Power --> someone tell me if it's worth buying or not!
A splash test done with Swimmers! Not any ordinary swimmers but synchronized swimmers training for the 2008 Beijing olympics! Damn that is a splash test alright....Apparently only 2 held up....
Chanel Inimitable Multi-Dimensional waterproof mascara ---> carnuba wax and rice wax...hmmm.....
The Body Shop Waterproof Mascara ---> it required a few layers but after an hour of swimming her lashes still look good...not bad...
It also mentions and states NO eyelash transplants please ladies! Falsies are our friends no need to implant stuff into our bodies now.... :)
and a lovely timeline on the history of mascara....One which is amusing is in 1913 (way back in the day) Chemist Thomas Williams blends Vaseline with coat dust for his sister Mabel. He sells it as maybelline (Mabel + vaseline) Its the first commerical mascara... fun little history note there....
Are you tired of reading and listening to me ramble? :P
One more thing...i went out and spent the 3 bucks on the Wet N Wild Megawink Mascara. Since my curiosity peaked when reading that 17 mascara article. I do remember someone told me it wasn't anything special. but for 3 bucks why not try right?
for 3 bucks you get what you pay for...
[normaleye]
my eye with nothing on, you can't see any of my lashes can you? so short they are....
[primeye]
so this is the eye with the smashbox primer on and the megawink mascara. I realized the primer made my lashes straighter with this mascara for some reason. It was pretty bad, didn't hold a curl or anything...Booo!
[megaeye]
and this is it without any primer. Ok so it kinda does hold a curle somewhat. nothing special right? for 3 bucks nothing lost...
I'm just searching for a mascara that will hold a curl and lengthen my lashes, not so much into the thickening cause if i only have 7 lashes then i only have 7 lashes, making them thicker doesn't really help.
I also caved in and went to sephora cause of the 20% off :) and bought the Imju Fiberwig mascara :), and then i bought the mini mascaras they had for 8 or 9 bucks. i mean its like the same price at the drugstore right? doesn't hurt to try them. I got the too Faced Lash Injection and a new mascara comb cause the one off the Sonia Target brand mascara isn't cutting it anymore. I hope you were all amused by this...The hunt for the perfect mascara continues on....the elusive mascara escapes me for today...but tomorrow I shall capture it!
