Is it safe to use contact lenses even if you don’t have a prescription?

I've always wanted to use colored lenses, or at least try them out, but I don't need glasses/contacts and I don't have a prescription for either. I finally found a store that sells them for twenty bucks a pop, but I'm not sure I even want to try it in case I stab myself in the eye or something. Should I buy them anyways?

Even if you don't need corrective lenses you should go to an optometrist. They teach you how to put them in and take them out, how to care for your lenses and usually they have you wear a pair for a week or so to make sure they fit you properly. I found out freshlooks don't fit me as well as Acuvue and they only have 1 diameter size! Well anyway that is just my opinion. :)

hi.. yes i agree with you kae, we should also try to see or ask the doctor with our contact lenses we have, especially how do we clean the contacts and what cleaning products are best for our particular lenses.

You should go to an optometrist or an optician and they could work out what contacts suit you best. They usually measure the base curve of your eyes to match the contact lenses and also teach you how to fit and take them out as well as proper maintenance.

Nope don't do it. I used to do that in high school. My friends and I would drive to Oakland to pay $20 for a pair of color contacts. When we tried it on it was sooo blurry because of course, we didn't get contact fitted. It was also annoying because the contacts would move around every time you blinked and it felt like there was something stuck in your eyes.

Anyways. Just save your $20 and go get fitted at Walmart or Costco. It's the cheapest price I've found to get contact fitting and you'll be going to class looking good in them & feeling super comfortable.

I never went to a doctor and I wear circle lenses with no problem. I have extremely sensitive eyes and they have never caused a problem for me, but i clean them and take care of them and use good judgment. It depends on the person I guess.
