I got some sample foundations from MAD minerals and I love it! The coverage is fairly light, but it is also very build-able without looking flakey even on my dry skin..

I got 4 different colors I think..? The colors and very forgiving and even if they aren't a PERFECT match it still matches my skintone (does that make sense)??

Cheap too which is always a good thing

    Argh,

I bought sheer cover, and it didn't do anything! I really hated their foundation and I broke out too! BLah!

I started using Physician's Formula's Mineral Wear with the sponge head. It's a liquid mineral foundation. A lot of department store makeup are making a mineral line too...so give it a try. I like the Physician's Formula one since I mix it with lotion (w/SPF) and it looks really natural and dewy. Also, I don't break out.

I beg you guys to give Silknaturals a try! Honestly, I don't trust any other company right now, especially drug store ones, but I did find some coupons for the maybelline one, so we will see...

i really love the look and feel of silk naturals on my face. unfortunately, i'm an oily disaster so it doesn't wear all that well after i get greased up. -___- but it doesn't break me out which is great. and i liked it better than everyday minerals. i think it's awesome that you can mix your perfect match!

hi starlit, i read this thread & was just wondering if this suggestion could help: how about pressing a thin layer of loose powder all over your face first, and then apply the mineral makeup? in the morning, it's a good idea just to rinse your face with cool water (without any cleanser), pat dry and apply a toner. looks like i should check out silk naturals too :-)

Hi. I've actually tried several brands of mineral makeup: Everyday Minerals, J. Lynne Cosmetics, Alima Cosmetics, Lumiere Cosmetics, Silk Naturals and Monave.

EDM - depending on the formula you get, the coverage ranges from light to medium. my personal preference is the Intensive formula (the supposed "heavy" coverage). I wear this with a primer and I think it looks very natural. My skin tone is evened out yet you can tell I have a human face underneath the makeup. =P

    J. Lynne: I have a few issues with the coloring but that's only because I never picked out the right colors. Anyways, J. Lynne has medium, buildable coverage, which is nice. I think it looks pretty natural as well.

Alima: oh goodness. Super duper drying! And that's something since I have OILY skin! I've also read reviews from other oily-skinned mmu users that Alima was drying for them. Hated it. Coverage was really light and not buildable.

Lumiere: my favorite brand of all time. medium buildable coverage. looks natural. I absolutely love it.

Silk Naturals: good coverage. I'd say medium-ish coverage. looks natural, but for me, I was oilier than an oil spill. It was better with an oil-absorbing finishing powder before and after the foundation. So I do still like Silk Naturals, but not as much as I like Lumiere.

Monave: Super duper heavy coverage. For me it was "omg, where did all my post-acne marks go?" When I use it without a primer, it didn't look too great on me, but with the primer, it was natural. It looked like I was born with perfect skin. I really really like this brand.

KouNaturals.com, I think it went out of business. Darn it said "Server not found". Owner must have deleted the website. Kou Naturals had the "almost" best color match for East Asian skin tone found in the USA. The owner was Asian so she knew what was
    truthful.

Is meowcosmetics.com and alimapure.com colors any good. I still hate loose powder but I am willing to avoid "harsh" chemicals. Alima has like 60 colors and Meow has like 80 colors.

I also looked into what "mineral" really is, turns out Talc which is what I am using (main ingredient of old fashion foundation) is a mineral too.

    Talc

    Mica

    (ext) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mica

    Titanium_dioxide
    (ext) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium_dioxide

Which is better meowcosmetics.com and alimapure.com?

I love Bare Minerals, especially the "fresh" blush which works for blush as well as contouring my eyes. I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin (allergic to my own sweat on friction in an odd way) and could wear absolutely no makeup besides some eye and lip makeup. I'm a faithful customer.

Mineral make up is great, cause it looks very natural, the only problem is that the mineral powder made me brake out in the begining, but it gets better with time. so dont worry if that happens it will be ok.
